Couple / Family Mediation

What this is about?

Relationships can be deeply meaningful—and at times, deeply challenging.

Mediation offers a safe, structured space where each person can be heard and understood.

Grounded in the principles of Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication (NVC), this process supports connection even in moments of conflict.

Rather than deciding who is right or wrong, mediation focuses on:

  • understanding each person’s experience

  • uncovering the needs behind reactions

  • increasing awareness and identifying re-occurring patterns

  • exploring strategies that meet everyone's needs

What mediation can support?
  • Create space for honest expression

  • Acknowledge hurt and unmet needs

  • Move toward repair and reconnection

  • Break out of repeating arguments

  • Understand what keeps the conflict going

  • Find new ways of responding to each other

  • Learn to express yourself without blame or criticism

  • Practice listening without interrupting or defending

  • Build mutual understanding step by step

How sessions work?
  • 60 minute sessions with both people/everyone present

  • Neutral/Empathic facilitator to guide the conversation

  • Structured dialogue to ensure both/all sides are heard

  • Slowing down communication to increase clarity and empathy

  • The role of the mediator is not to judge or take sides, but to:

    • support understanding

    • translate difficult expressions

    • keep the conversation constructive

From an NVC perspective, conflict is not something to “win” or “lose.”

It is an opportunity to:

  • understand what matters most to each person

  • transform disconnection into dialogue

  • build relationships that are more honest and resilient
